Audio Implementation
In 2015 I completed a Wwise course with Berklee Online. Since then I have helped developers build adaptive audio systems that breathe life into their worlds, creating a tactile and informative aural experience for the player.
Sound design is one half of game audio, how they’re implemented is the final presentation.
Music Composition
Game music needs to entice & inform the player, be it an epic orchestral score, or bizarre alien dance music. I have 15 years experience playing and writing music.
Audio Editing & Restoration
I’ve been editing dialog, SFX & Music for 8 years, working on both indie & AAA game titles, animations, audiobooks, podcasts and audio dramas.
Using my suite of editing software I can deliver pristine audio, quickly and professionally.
Dialog Production
I’ve had the privilege of working with world-class actors, directors and producers on AAA & Indie projects. If your game has dialog, you need strong actors. I offer casting, recording engineering, and scheduling.
Script Editing & English QA
Game scripts can get big, and complicated. I’ve edited hundreds of scripts, native English as well as localised scripts from Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Polish and many more.
I’m a native English speaker, and have contacts with other language speakers.
About Me
I’m Matt Dear, a game audio expert based in Folkestone, UK. I’ve been involved with music and sound design for 12 years, with a focus on game audio since 2015. With my audio expertise, and network of UK-based voice actors and dialog studios, I am a one-stop shop for all things audio!
In that time I’ve worked as a freelance sound designer & composer, as well as working for 2 years full-time at OMUK, a London-based game dialog studio with a rich history of titles, from AAA blockbusters, to indie gems. I also worked with Strange Matter Studios for 2 years, as the Audio Lead for their MOBA Fault.
Sound can make or break player immersion, as such it’s imperative to compliment and augment it with a game’s other elements. That’s why I prefer to get into a project at the early stages, to really get into the story and mythos of the game, and foster deep collaboration with other team members. So, if you think it’s way too early to be thinking about audio, maybe think again; I’m always looking to be a valuable member of the team.
